During the consultation, a 31-year-old male patient presented with the complaint of experiencing ringing in his left ear for the past 2 months. The patient had previously been examined by an ENT doctor and was referred to my office for a TMJ evaluation.
He reported no significant medical problems, but his history indicated that the onset of ear ringing coincided with increased stress related to job issues two months ago.
Assessment of the patient's condition:
- Deep bite present in 100% of cases
- The patient frequently grinds their teeth due to stress
- Absence of pain upon palpation at the lateral poles of the TMJ
- No clicking or popping sounds observed
- No deflection or deviation noted during opening and closing of the mouth
- Mouth opens to 48 mm without assistance
- Severe pain detected upon palpation of the left Masseter muscle, likely causing referred pain to the left ear
- Pain alleviated with the use of cold spray
Possible Treatments:
- Utilizing Meditation Exercises for Stress Reduction
- Using TMJ Orthotic to Align Bite, Muscles, and Joint
- Correcting Deep Bite
- Implementing Myofunctional Therapy
- Applying Cranio Sacral Therapy
- Administering Botox Injections
